    Hi, I got a video which was encoded using X264 723k + AC3 192k, I have installed the x264 Video Codec rev. 341, but it doesn't play as codec was not recognised? Could some1 pls advise if another codec is required pls, thanks.

    Try VideoLan, which has it's own codecs and seems to play pretty much anything

    or ffdshow and enable h264/x264 under video deocoder options->codecs.

    x264 is either a commandline app or VfW and it doesn't include a decoder. Also with AC3 audio I am guessing that it is in an mkv container? If so then you also need an mkv splitter.

    As said ffdshow is the way to go for dshow playback. VLC tends to be out of date. Nightly builds should be ok, although I am not sure if libavcodec gets updated nightly as well.
