I've been reading through some past posts trying to find an answer to this, but no luck so far.

I work 3rd shift, and am usually asleep when some TV programs come on that I would like to see. I'd like to find a way to schedule an automatic capture to a wmv file. I chose WMV because I get a good balance of quality and file size. Plus I'm not interested in archiving or burning my captures, just keeping them long enough to view what I've missed.

I've looked into a few programs to do this, but no luck so far. For example, I know that I can use the command line function of WinDV to schedule a capture using Windows Task Scheduler. The problem with this is that it saves it as an avi file that is fairly large (around 8-9gb, depending on the length). Some other programs don't like my setup and usually won't pick up the audio as a result to no line-in cable to my sound card.

I'm currently capturing from TV using the pass-through function of my DV cam, outputting it to my pc via Firewire. I typically use Windows Movie Maker to capture simply because of all the programs I've sampled, I get the best results/quality from it. In a perfect world for me, WMM would have a scheduling function, but it currently doesn't, so I'm stuck.

So, to sum this up quick and easy....is there any way to "schedule" a capture directly to a wmv file?

    Thanks!

It does indeed seem to be exactly what I need. Thank you!

Just out of curiousity because I'm at work and can't test it yet, will it allow for just one scheduled event, or can it be setup for more than one and/or recurring events?

Thanks again....I'm excited to get home and try it out.

  3. Sorry to say that it's only for one scheduled event in this version. I will of course improve this in a future version.

Besides, thanks to the guy who added today CaptureFlux to the prestigious VideoHelp's list of tools.
