Newbie question
I am using Canopus Procoder to convert XVID to DVD.
AVI file has
a frame rate of 23 frames/second
Data rate of 123 kbps
Video sample size 12bit
compression XVID
The DVD is watchable, but motions are wacky. I don't know if it is frame order or some other problem. I am sure by looking at the examples below, someone can identify what my problem is and what needs to be done to corect it.
I understand that XVID gives up a lot to achieve such a small size. But I am comfortable with the results I have achieved so far. If I can get rid of the distortion that occurs on the motion, I'll be tickled pink.
Below are examples of both extreme situations where the frame looks very bad and others where the frame is acceptable (by my standards)

How do I fix this problem?
Thank you

Look up interlace in the glossery (top left menu).
Procoder is producing interlaced output (which is normal), but which may not display nicely on your computer monitor depending ont he playback software used. PowerDVD and similar compensate for this and display correctly, other software does not do so well.
The real teat is to author the dvd and burn to a DVD RW and play it back on your TV.
Worst case, you have output an incorrect field order from Procoder and have to encode again with the correct order. If you used the DVD template from procoder then this should not be the cause.Read my blog here.

The pictures you posted show incorrectly resized interlaced video. I suspect that's just because you resized them for posting.
I don't use Procoder so I can't give you details but...
Xvid AVI at 23.976 fps is almost certainly progressive. You should encod the video as 23.976 fps progressive MPEG2 and mark it for 3:2 pulldown. It should then play properly on the computer (as progressive video) and the DVD player will perform the 3:2 pulldown to create 59.94 interlaced fields per second for TV. -

Thank You
I will give that a try
