How can you film a plasma screen TV using a DV camera and not get flicker when you play back the recording?

I have tried to do this before, and though the video is watchable, the flicker is distracting.

    Hello,
My only guess would be to video tape the same program or signal, then capture and edit it..This is presuming that you cannot get to the analog output of your TV and use you DV camera as a passthru device..

It will be at a convention, where filiming of the presentation is permitted, but you obviously arn't able to plug directly into the plasma screen (I will be in the audience).

I think it is simply a case of the refresh rate being picked up by the camera the same as a moniter or TV. Is their a virtualdub filter to reomve that perhaps?

I have read that adjusting your cameras shutter speed to match the refresh rate of the display can stop this happening. Question is, how the heck do I do that? My camera is a Sony dcr-hc14e.

    Hi,
This may be far out but I see you are across the pond..Are you recording in PAL? If you could record with a borrowed NTSC camera then change it by software back to PAL..
That would be a different frame rate and possibly not flicker..
    Just a wild thought..
    Goodluck,

Read the manual? This one might be close:

    http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRHC1000.pdf

Look under Recording -> Adjusting the Exposure
