Hi, not too sure where to post this, but i guess here should be fine:

I've got a avi video file, compressed with xvid and ac3 audio stream which i obtained. Unfortunately, the speed of the video is slow. The audio and video are in sync but i feel that it's slower than usual 'cos the voice is in this deep slo-mo voice, that occurs when u slow an audio file. Is there anyway to speed up the file such that it will be back to normal and still in sync?

    Thanks a million.

Can you drop it in Gspot and post a screenshot of the results? Blank out the name if you like. It sounds like it may have been encoded at the wrong framerate. You may be able to adjust that in Virtualdub.

hmmm...my bad. Upon closer scrutiny, the video and audio is indeed out of sync by a few milliseconds.

here's an update...i extracted the ac3 stream and converted it into a wav file using ac3tools. When i play the wav file on WMP, it plays perfectly, no slo mo thing.

I tried muting my video and played the video and the wav file at the same time. Nope it's not in sync. They're at totally different rates. So could any of u guys here help me out with the next step? Not too sure what to do now.

  9. You can try Remultiplexing the audio and video with VirtualDubMod. First try with the source's AC3 audio. If that doesn't work, try with the WAV file you created from it.

In VirtualDubMod, open your source file. Select Video -> Direct Stream Copy. Select File -> Save As... and save as a new AVI file. This will remux the video and the original AC3 audio without reencoding either.

Then select Streams -> Stream List. Click on the AC3 stream and then the Disable Button. Click on Add and add the WAV file you created earlier. If you want to compress that WAV audio right click on the stream and select Full Processing Mode. Right click on it again and select Compresssion... Select the compression codec you want and it's parameters. Finally, select File -> Save As... and save the results.

but the thing is that the video speed is different from the 'good' audio speed. The video speed is slower.

  11. Then change the video speed using VirtualDubMod's Source Rate Adjustment: Video -> Frame Rate. In the top section of the dialog select a different source frame rate. This is just a guess, but try changing the frame rate to 29.97 and using your WAV file.
