    Hi - i have a xvid video where the sound is too low therefore i first used goldwave to up the sound - save as a wav file then remultiplex it to the original video using virtualdub - the sound was out of sync.
    I then just used virtual dub and upped the sound volume as much as i can, around 985% - i saved the file the exact same problem - obviously the problem is in virtualdub - anyone know why this happens i dont do anything when converting.

    Is the original audio MP3 VBR ?
    Are you sure that you output an uncompressed wav file ?

    Just doing a 'save as wav' won't help unless you are in full processing mode, and have chosen uncompressed as the output format. Also, if you recieved the incorrect header message when you opened the file, say yes to rewrite the header before saving the file.

    ok i didnt compress the audio file now - and its sync HOWEVER the movie went from 700mb to 1.5gig as the sound is uncompressed - is there another way? goldwave can turn the audio into mp3 but virtualdub wont let me add a wav - how can i just add the mp3 from the start?

    Make the changes in goldwave, then output as CBR mp3 and put that back in with Virtualdub. The process goes

    avi -> virtualdub -> uncompressed wav -> goldwave -> CBR MP3 -> virtualdub -> avi

  6. Hi-

    Why convert to WAV and back to MP3? Extract the MP3 from VDubMod (Streams->Streams List->Demux. Make sure you answer "No" when opening the AVI, if the audio is VBR MP3. Then up the volume using MP3Gain. If you raise it too much, though, you'll get clipping (distortion). Then mux it back into the AVI.

    This assumes the audio is MP3 (use GSpot to check). If AC3, just open the AC3Filter and change the Preset to Loud.

    You can get MP3Gain here:
