Alright! Here's the situation.
I have 1 primary HDD in my computer set to master and on the master end of my IDE cable of course. But when i put this other harddrive in on slave and the harddrive it set itself to slave ( i even tried CS) and when i boot up nothing comes up; still showing only 1 drive (CI know for a fact that this HDD works b/c i went to my buddies house and installed it there and there were my files im trying to retrieve. Any suggestions i would really appreciate it. Thanks,
Scott

Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management and see if it shows up there.
If no, check your BIOS and see if it's recognized or detected there. -
That's not good.
Can you tell if it's spinning up? Try it temporarily in place of your secondary IDE slave. You can just prop it up in the case if the cables don't reach. Orientation is not important. That would be an easy way to check if it's a IDE or power cable problem.

its spinning so the power works and the ide cable is brand new but i dont understand why it will show on his but not mine
