  1. How do you convert a SWF Flash file to a video format? For example I tried to convert this Flash movie:
    http://www.swearing.org/misc/swf/0_wing_rhapsody.swf . Here's the results:

    QuickTime 7
    "Invalid media data was found in the movie"

    WinAVI Video Converter
    Processes all of movie, and hangs at the end screen ("play again", "view website", etc) at 43%. It doesn't seem to realize the Flash movie ended, or at least is unable to deal with interactive formats. It must be Task Manager killed.

    swf2avi
    Says it can't read a compressed header. Asks me to input some data about the swf file, then crashes on import.

    Ok, dammit... I'll try a screen capture.

    Windows Media Encoder
    Doesn't capture audio.

    HyperCam (Screen capture)
    Would not respond to closing the capture; did not seem to capture the audio.

    SnagIt
    I looked at the website but it didn't say anything about capturing the audio. I'm loathe to keep randomly trying things at this point.

    Now what?

    And I did see the single how-to on SWF here, but it uses the above mentioned Quicktime to convert.

    you could try a screen capture tool and record the audio with total recorder.

    i haven't found any good swf converter. maybe mencoder.

    I downloaded the SWF file and it playes back with MediaPlayerClassic.

    Using Snagit I chose;

    Basic Capture Profiles = A window to file

    Capture settings:
    Mode = video
    Input = Region + Record audio
    Output = File

    Open MPC and the SWF file and pause at the begining. Adjust the window size of the player that you want. Click the Capture button on Snagit and frame the player window. Press start then play the clip. When finished, press Ctrl+Shift+P to stop recording.

    Hope this helps,

    Chas
