MPEG Streamclip is able to export into very various containers, codecs etc., is also able to open vob files, but I didn't sa any "split" option.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I don't have the MPEG-2 Playback software from Apple?

Use the slider and Edit > Select In / Select Out for start and stop position of a segment. Then Save As to save the segment. That's how I use it.

    Yes, I would think so.

  5. I think it depends what you want to do with this split VOB file. If you are trying to create separate playable DVDs, then DVD2OneX is probably the right tool.

If you want to separate a movie and extras (or various episodes) and pull them out for editing, then something like Cinematize is probably the best tool.

The problem with MPEG Streamclip is that it doesn't know anything about the DVD structure, so it just views VOB files as gigantic movies without interruptions. If you have several movies or extras stuck together in a VOB file, then you would have to go hunting for them manually. If you have multiple angles or something like that, the situation is pretty hopeless.

thanx, it was enough for my needs:

shift-move the cursor to select an area.
    "x" deselect the selection
    command-T trim the selection
    "save as" and that's it.
