  1. I have a .mp2 file which has an usually low pitch to it (makes the male voices sound like they're on steroids). Is there an easy/free way to raise the pitch? I'm only a casual video/audio editor but not a complete noob.

You could drop it into VirtualDub Mod, save out the audio as a WAV, then put the audio into Audacity and change the pitch there. They're both freeware programs.

When you change the pitch, you may also change the length, which may result in audio/video sync problems. But you likely have those anyway is the pitch is wrong.

If you get the sync right, you put the WAV file into a program such as ffmpeggui and convert it to AC3 audio, if that's what you want, then mux that back with the video.

It's not hard, just a bunch of steps to go through.

EDIT: I misread that. You already have the separate audio file. Just put it in Audacity and follow the rest of the method. But note the part about sync is you are joining it back with a video.

redwudz probably has the most elegant answer. Another option is to use a pitch shifter plugin for Winamp and write the difference out to a WAV file.
