I am transferring a video to disc for a friend who does not have a PAL SVHS deck, and want to split the "raw" DV AVI over a number of discs so he can work on it himself. What do I need to set the max AVI size as to split at 4 GB?
Thanks.

I assume you mean WinDV? You will get about 13Gb an hour with DV, figure roughly a third of that for a 4.37Gb DVD. If you set the maximum AVI size (frames) to about 36000, that should get you close. That's about 20 minutes per DVD of video. Try it and adjust as needed.
The setting information is here. http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/33/59/
Don't trust my math too much, it's late here.
