  1. What are the different quality settings for MOTION SEARCH PRECISION in TEMPGenc mean? Everyone says use the highest quality, but why? Does is change the quality of play or when searching through the video file (fast forward or rewind viewing)? Thanks...

BTW- I did a search and didn't find any information other than use the highest without an explaination...

  2. It has to do with high motion scenes, reducing blockiness and the like. Many people have noted no discernable difference between the 'high' and 'highest' settings, even though 'highest' increases encoding time significantly.

I have to idea how it works though - maybe someone could explain that...

Its all a CONspericy!! He, he,....

to get you to try their encoder as a Beta Tester - we're all Trojans
working for the Japanies! He, he..... So they can make
    millions! H,e h.e...

Come'on. How many times has this person revised TMPG
and in each one, there has ben an INrecase or DEcrease
in performance, quality, speed, etc., etc., ., .,, ., .,
I've made up my mind to just stick with one version, and
that's final!! Looks like I've found the right version, cause
all my encodes seem to be pretty good.

Seriouly, I've tried most those settings and then some for
months on end and basically, NQ (Near Quality) is all you'll
really need. Anybody that claims they are getting great or
better results is just so full of SHat I'm smelling it over the
    phone lines here! He, he....

Just this weekend (so far) I've ben experimenting on this
same issue (and then some) and using various 5 second clips
ranging from fast motion, scene panning, car-chasing, etc, etc
and NO change! That's with Satalete and DVD captures.

Take my advise (base on experience) and leave at NQ and
    save your sanity!

    Good luck!
