Trying to convert some MP4 coming from Handbrake to AVI (DivX) files (I do not have the DVD anymore).
The process runs fine. But the resulting file has no audio ...
There is bunch of threads about similar problems but I did not find any satisfactory answer to this one.

I have the same problem trying to convert an HD movie from apple's homepage to an avi divx file (my Pinnacle ShowCenter accepts only avi files). But there is no sound. I tried out all settings, without success.
Has anybody an idea how to convert this movie

    ?

  3. Export the sound as WAV with Quicktime Player then use it as external audio.

    Thanks Major for your answer.
But could you be more specific about "use it as external audio" ?
    I have got myMovie_noAudio.avi
    I have got myMovie.wav
Do you mean I should mux them together with FFmpegX ?

    I tried it with:
    Select multiplexing options
    Mux as: AVI + audio
Resulting in a very fast job with nothing created.
    Process Information:
    built on Jan 7 2005 02:34:06, gcc: 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1666)

    I also tried it with:
    Select multiplexing options
    Mux as: AVI
Resulting in another fast job and myMovie,wav.mp3 size 0 created.
    Process information:
ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4736, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
    configuration: --enable-mp3lame --enable-gpl --disable-vhook --enable-ffplay --disable-ffserver --enable-a52 --enable-xvid --enable-faac --enable-faad --enable-amr_nb --enable-amr_wb --enable-pthreads
    built on Jan 7 2005 02:34:06, gcc: 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1666)
Error while opening codec for stream #0.0 - maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height

  5. I mean when you encode load the wav in the "add audio" field in the audio tab so as it will pick the external file.

    Wow !
I feel stupid not having seen this one "add audio" field at once.
It did work to create an AVI file that I can play on my Mac.
But still, it is not a format that my ARCHOS AV700 can read. Worse, it freezes it.
Playing around with the tools I found one way that works for me:
    myMovie.mp4 --> VLC streamout --> myMovie.avi --> FFmpegX --> myMovie.avi (DivX)

For some reason I could not use VLC directly.
I could not find a way to streamout in the good AVI-DivX format with it (even though if VLC is able to play this format).
But this is another forum problem.

The "add audio" field has been very helpful however.
It solved a problem I had in this thread:
