  1. Hi to all looking hopefully an easy one for to put me straight on,

Downloaded an Xvid movie burned to cd-r as data disc fine plays great excellent quality but a bad frame movement on it not a smooth running of the film really annoying to watch like a jerking movement.

Now it does the same when played in Windows media player but to be fair seems to plays ok in VLC player.

Now you may say windows media player does not have the correct codec for it but in my standalone its the same frame problem.

My standalone plays Divx as well as Xvid and I've since downloaded another Xvid which plays fine in windows media player nice and smooth and also in my standalone.

So I guess I want you to say that the problem is the Xvid and the way it was encoded rather than anything I have done wrong?

If you download videos from the net you takes your chances are far as quality of the encode is concerned. It might have originally been a PAL movie converted to NTSC or vice-versa. This could introduce stutter. It might have been encoded from 23.976 to 29.976, in which case etxra frames have to be created and can cause stutter. Many things can go wrong when you don't know the source.
    Read my blog here.

  3. Many standalone players have problems with packed data stream Divx/Xvd videos. To fix you have to unpack them and sometimes change the header. However, given that you have problems in Media player as well, chances are the encode is at fault.

You really should not be discussing downloaded videos on this site. I'm sorry but I have to lock this thread.
