Its either set to 25fps or 29.97fps. I want to make it 30fps instead. How can I do tihs? 29.97 is slightly choppy and isnt fluid. I compare the avi to the dvd and the dvd is playing at 30fps

30 fps isn't a DVD standard frame rate. Simple as that. I find it hard to believe that any choppiness you experience is due to 0.03 fps this way or that. Something else must be different too.

well, i am playing the dvd using powerdvd and it says 30fps.
the choppiness isnt noticeable unless you compare the source dvd and the avi. for example if theres a little notice on the bottom of the screen passing by the avi version will stutter it while the dvd goes smoothly with no hiccups. either way whether dvd is 2997 or 30, is it possible to manually set the fps to whatever you want in AGK?

I would assume that AutoGK just uses whatever framerate the source is. So if the source is 29.97 fps, it encodes at 29.97fps. If the source is 23.976 it encodes at 23.976.

If you want more control. Try GordianKnot.

    Exactly.

    It's a non-standard, non-compliant DVD otherwise.

I'd suggest that it's either to do with your codec and/or your playback software. I doubt changing the frame rate will fix it.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. And at what framerate is the AVI, 23.976fps, or 29.97fps? I figure it's 23.976fps.

You might post the log, so we can see what AutoGK did for your movie.

In the Hidden Options are settings to Force IVTC, Force Deinterlace if it was detected as a Hybrid, and to tune the deinterlace settings. I wouldn't touch it unless you know what you're doing, which, from your posts so far, you don't.

...for example if theres a little notice on the bottom of the screen passing by the avi version will stutter

There's a fair chance that's 29.97fps, while the film itself is 23.976fps. Not much you can do about that. Why make the whole film 29.97fps and wreck it, just for a few seconds of stutter. AutoGK uses Decomb as the IVTC. If, indeed, it's a hybrid, there are other IVTCs that may handle it better. For that, though, you'd have to use the more fully featured GKnot.

But the log would throw more light on what you're saying.

For good reasons (if you could, it wouldn't be a Video DVD anymore), no.
