Aspect Ratio Problem

Hi guys,

Firstly, I am a complete noob at this . Only been burning DVDs since yesterday.

Anyway, I have burnt a few episodes of a show to DVD and the aspect ratio is all out when I play it on my DVD player (Panasonic EMR-100).
Is Ok on my computer though.

It seems to be stretching the 16:9 ratio so I loose some of the picture both at the sides and at the top/bottom.

Attached my log if that will help sort the problem.

What are your sources? Are they 16:9?

Is the AR wrong or is it zoomed on the player?

I don't think that it's the 16:9 problem, I personally have a player supporting both 4:3 and 16:9 and it isn't changing anything. Anyway what dvd-maker program do u have cause there might be various ways to fix it

What are your sources? Are they 16:9?

Is the AR wrong or is it zoomed on the player?

The Sources are 624x352, so yes 16x9
Player/TV is just set up normally and tried various ARs on both the DVD player and TV.

It looks like it has been zoomed then cropped...
If I put the TV on 4:3, it should just squash the image, but you still can only see half the NBC logo.

Well the TV should be on 16:9 and the zooming sounds like it is been done by the DVD player.... It is a NTSC DVD: Is your player converting from NTSC to PAL by any chance?

I honestly think it is the way your player does the NTSC conversion (my Panny is the same).... The fact that NTSC is 480 high and PAL is 576 and it interpolates in such a way that "zooming & cropping" occurs.

What you could try is configuring the DVD Player NOT to convert NTSC to PAL and let the TV deal with it (if it is capable) - it may do a better job.
