I've just conducted an experiment where I started a convert from Divx Avi to VCD and at the same time (went back to the desktop)and opened up TMPGE again and started another conversion.
Does anyone forsee any conflicts?
Or
Is it maybe just a case of the process being slowed down somewhat?

i always do it that way, at this moment i'm converting two divx avi's to vcd and mostly i cut two movies (each in 3 the same pieces) at the same time (so tmpgenc is opened six times) but this does however slow the process down.

ShessH!
How do I encode a single AVI file and make
several smaller (VCD or SVCD or both) clips?
All I really want is to make individuale SVCDs
of all the X-MASS commercials that were captured
during my 1 hour cap of Farscape!
SENARIO 1:
----------
1 - load your AVI file
2 - load your template and make any settings you like
3 - click Settings/Advanced, [x] Source Range
3a - set your source range for your x-mas commercial
one comm only - buy moving the chicklet left/right
and be sure to press the "set start" and "set end" btns
and then press [OK]
4 - go to MENU: FILE/Save Project, and give a name for
your project, ie, COM01 (DONT'T add an ext name) and
then save it
5 - REPEAT for each clip you want to make per AVI file
6 - when ready to encode all these clips, go to
MENU: File/Batch encode, and click on Add, and bring in
all the (*.tpr) files you want to encode. Then press
the Start button, and the encoding process will begin!

How do I encode MUTLIpble AVI files and make
ONE big file (VCD or SVCD or both) ?
All I really want is to make/merge about 5 AVIs into ONE
SVCD of a 1 hour cap I did of Farscape but w/out
all those X-MASS commercials that were captured!
SENARIO 2:
----------
1 - Start up Virtualdub
2 - load in an AVI file
3 - make any Filter settings needed
4 - MENU: (File/Append AVI Segment) and bring in all
those AVI files (note, is a better tech. )
5 - after all avi files are appended, begin by first
searching for each commercial, and clicking the Mark
In button and Mark Out button, for begin and end points
and once you see the BLUE, you know you're ready to press
the delete key. Do this for each section (commercials)
and once all this is complete, you can now go on to the
frameserving part.
6 - MENU: (File/Frameserve), and give name, ie, 01.vdr
7 - be sure TMPG is open and running
THEN. . . for TMPGEnc. . .
1 - load this 01.vdr file
2 - load your template and make any settings you like
3 - when ready to encode this 01.vdr file, click on
the Start or Encode button at top and encoding will
start.
You see, wasn't so hard!
In time, the more you use this method, the faster it
becomes to set up individual clips reall quickly.
And, your encoding will run a lot faster!
There are other variations/SENARIOs, but these two
should get you up and going.
Later!
