Yes, it could be everybodys signal.
Though I think it's probably Dishes signal.

Well, let me burst your bubble! Just kidding.

All I'm getting right now is OTA HD. Yes, it looks good, but like you said, you're watching it at a friends so you're comparing it to NTSCrap.

If you want me to ruin it for you, look closer, especially in those football games your watching. I guess the stuff I saw at NAB wasn't compressed into Mpeg. And realistically how else could they deliver it to the home?

Then again, if the new HD DVD formats use mpeg2 they might be the same thing.
you're not really bursting my bubble.. i'm not sure if the quality is supposed to be better or not.. but he has a 64 inch hdtv, and i've watched tons of games in HD, and they all looked damn good.. i really couldnt imagine the quality being better.. i dont notice any artifacts, although occasionally the audio will stutter..

we've had to watch some games in SD, and they look OK at best.. he has directv, and even on his 64 inch screen it looks better than what i get from dish network.

A comment was made that RG6 cables come in various qualities... or that's the way I interpreted it. Anyway... I am experiencing ghosting- again - last night (during the WS baseball game) almost every night. And interference. It get's much worse as night approachs.

My signal was 'perfect' for 5 years... up until say the tail end of last year. On the svc calls they have: LNB replaced. Connector's replaced. Signal strentgh = 118. Reciever's swapped. Still shows on both TV's.

Dish CS fianlly has 'escalated' the issue after three visits. (They didn't show on the middle one) Supposedly someone from their real tech support going to call me yesterday. I have voicemail... what a surprise - no call.

If I switch to Direct, I'm going to insist on them running new lines. But I wish a real alternative would present itself. I've heard rumours of the phone company running TV through fiber optic rolling out sometime around the end on 2006.

  4. Verizon is running fiber to the home in NJ, but to do TV they're going to have to fight the cable companies and work with town regulation bodies.

To me the neato feature is they're talking about really supercharging the internet speeds

    and

I'd like the 30Mbps speed myself but that runs quite a lot more than the 15Mbps speed. Looks like the 30Mbps vs 15mbps down is 4 times the $$ and the up speed is 2Mbps vs 5 Mbps

Just imagine at 30Mbps you could stream HDTV.

    Cheers
