  1. I am encoding MPEG-4 to MPEG-2 in ffmpegx to then burn in Toast 7 (as Toast 7's encoding always seems lesser quality to me). But I find that Toast won't allow me to select a button image (for the DVD menu) for the MPEG-2's I drag in. It just displays a generic media icon for the button, and burns the disc with those buttons. Can I fix this?

    Cheers,

  2. After you drag/drop in your MPEG2 video, click on the thumbnail image that appears in the main window. Hover your mouse pointer for a few seconds and you will get a slider to pick a new keyframe from the video.

  3. Yes, I get the slider, but Toast only displays the generic media icon in the thumbnail regardless of where I put the slider. it burns ok, just with that ugly icon as the button.

  4. I believe it's because you don't have the mpeg-2 component for quicktime.
I also don't have this component, and I know Toast uses quicktime in some capacity. I have also experienced this problem.

then again, I may be completely wrong

  5. no... it has nothing to do with the mpeg-2 component... you don't need that with toast... it includes an mpeg1/2 encoder and decoder.

i just tried it with my mpeg2 file and it works fine... are you using v7.0.1 of toast? what is the source of the mpeg file?

  6. As in my original post, the source of the mpeg-2 file is a conversion from mpeg-4 by ffmpegx - so I'm wondering if different ffmpegx settings will fix the issue.
