Convert them to DVD files. All you have to change is the audio rate, from 44k to 48K. You can even use a trick to leave them at 44K and still play them in most settop players.

Look to the left under 'Convert' and search for 'VCD to DVD' conversions.

    thanks again.

  4. Simple maths could give you rough estimate assuming each CD is full... roughly 700Mb per Cd give or take, 43 CDs multiply and divide result by 4,500Mb odd the capacity of a DVD

only rough i know but will give you a ball park figure

Here's how I would do it:

Extract the MPEGs out of the DAT files using VCDGear. Drop the MPEGs into TMPGEnc DVD Author, which will upsample the audio from 44.1KHz to 48KHz on the fly. Burn the result.

There's also a sticky on the topic here:

Can I burn VCD or SVCD on DVD±R/W?

You can normally get around 6 VCDs on a DVD, so assuming each VCD is full, you should be able to get the whole lot on around 6-7 DVDs.
    If in doubt, Google it.
