What's forever ? I can convert a 90 minute avi in around 70 minutes, and my PC is no powerhouse. Compared to 4 hours for a full encode, that is pretty good.

Usually I don't mind taking the time, so I will frameserve from avisynth or virtualdub, using correct resize and sharpening filters, then encode with a 2-pass VBR. It runs overnight and takes around 6 - 8 hours.

If I wan't something done in a hurry, then DivxtoDVD. Like I said, better than real-time is good enough.

How long does it take on your machine, and what do you think it should take ?

I for one use VSO DivxToDVD. I can load a 60 minute tutorial Divx file and have a working DVD in about 70 minutes.

What do you consider "forever" as I could not make heads or tails of your equation

"For ever= ages a long while so what program do u use then"

It should not take more that almost 1:1 real time.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

Yes, but the quality is excellent and, once you click the "Convert" button, it's not like you have to nursemaid it along, right? Get a cup of coffee and watch the news.
