Hi, I am converting dvdrips of one show back to dvd using DIKO. All the files are made by the same person, they are xvid with mp3 audio. I make 8 files at a time but I have stumbled to a problem: One of the files simply makes the encoder die at half:

All other 7 files are ok but this one both in CCE and FreeEnc simply stops at some point (exactly the same everytime) and the encoder ends without any error message. I have tried divfix, and a comercial fixer but none reports any errors and the fixed file has the same result when encoding...

    Any ideeas?

    Thank you

Could be that part of the file is corrupted, or that the MP3 audio is VBR, which can cause some encoders to choke.

The audio is VBR - but it's the same with the other (31) files.
Following the output of avi file fixers the file is not corupted... - and besides the audio extracts fine...

You could also try rewriting the header with Virtualdub, or re-save it as DIVX or whatever.

Personally I'd buy the DVDs the rips came from - much better quality, and a lot less hassle
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes I'll try Virtual Dub - it seems like the thing to do - thank you very much.

    and to the other post

I am really not a masochist - if the dvd's were available in my country then do you think I would spend a great deal of time and energy downloading and converting the @#$% files instead of just happily watch them? But since I like the show & it doesn't run on any channel I receive & dvd's are not available it seems to me it's the only option.

But thank you for the advice.
