Hello to the forum this is my first post, I hope thjat the information I am giving is not too vague. I am a begineer at this DVD burning lark so please excuse my ignorance on the matter

Anyway, I have bought an LG GSA-4163B DVD Writer I have burnt 3 films onto some memorex 8x DVD-R in DVD video format.

They play fine in the Pc on the LG DVD drive, but when I try to play them in my stadalone DVD player (ALBA DVD50XI) all I get is bad disc/incorrect fdvd format messages.

I have hacked the ALBA DVD to be multiplayer, so it cant be that causing it.

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

I would really appreciate anyone more learned than me offering some tips!

    Thanks

I don't see an Alba DVD50XI in the list of DVD Players on this website, but there is one AlbaDVD5xxx on the list (DVD59) that doesn't play DVD-R. Are you sure yours will play DVD-R? Has it played other DVD-R disks?

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

I have only used dvd-R as in my ignorance I purchased these disks, not knowing any different!

    I guess I should try a DVD+R then?

I dont know if the ALBA plays DVD-R, I have only used pre recorded commercial DVDs in the past, what format would they be in?

    Thanks.

Pre=recorded comercial DVDs are neither DVD +R or -R. DVD +R and -R are designated only for blank DVDs that you burn yourself. I don't know if your Alba will play them or not, but if you have only tried DVD-R, you should buy a few (as few as possible) DVD+R disks and burn one and see if your Alba will play it.

...and make sure you use bit setting on the LG4163B as "DVD-ROM" for +R discs...that should help with compatability problems...
