  1. Any pros and cons of Nero Vision Expres over TMPGEnc?
I use Nero Burning Rom to burn the vob files instead of TDA (too slow). But it terms of converting...whats the pros and cons?

Personally I would not use NVE for anything let alone for converting avi to mpeg. TMPGenc (Not TDA) is a high quality mpeg encoder, which in my opinion, NVE does NOT even come close to being.

I am not sure what you are asking in the second part of your post? Are you comparing the DVD burning capability between Nero Express and TDA?

TDA is NOT meant to be used for DVD burning but is really intended for authoring, creating video_ts folders. For authoring it wins over NVE hands down but for DVD burning I would probably use Nero Express if DVD Decrypter were not available. I have used TDA's burning app and have not had issues but I prefer DVD Decrypter.

Most of Nero Ultra is bloat ware, the only thing I will occasionally use if Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express. Nero Ditigal is interesting but is not supported by much of anything.

  3. no I mean after I use TMPGEnc to encode the mpegs to dvd complian mpegs. Then I use TDA to author it, TDA also has the capability to burn it onto a dvd-r. The TDA burning capability is pretty slow, just wondering what else to use (also tried Nero Burning Rom - its ok)

I can't seem to get Nerovision ( the newest) encoded dvd to highlight a button. It will highlight AFTER pressing the remote but not when you move over it.
Other than that it seems to work well.

As I mentioned in my last post, I usually use DVD Decrypter for DVD burning. I have no idea if it is fast or slow compared to other burning apps and I really do not care. I will take a good quality burn over speed any day!

My usual sequence is compliant mpg2 using either PVR-250 or DV avi (CCE Basic). Author with TDA and create video_ts folder. Create ISO file using DVD Shrink (whether I Shrink the file or not) and burn to DVD using DVD Decrypter. I have a 16X NEC 3520 but I only use 8X TY and burn at a max rate of 8X. I have done over 500 burns that way with no coasters. I used to use Nero Express and I did have a few coasters which could just be coincidence.
