    Hi

I really don't understand what's going on, capture from my Canopus ADVC100 via firewire no longer works in any of WinDV, Nero, Moviemaker .... BUT I know the connectivity is fine because the "AVC Compliant DV Tape Recorder/Player" in Windows (XP Pro) Explorer displays the source absolutely fine. Sadly it's not possible to capture from there......

    With WinDV I get,

    "Runtime Error!"
    Program: P:\WinDV\WinDV.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Well I sent an email to the application's support team which was roundly ignored.

Any idea what might have happened? It used to work perfectly.....

    Thanks

What has changed? Did you update software? Did you update your Windows? Have you tried a system restore back to when things were working correctly?

Unfortunately I'm not sure. I don't appear to have any system restore points. The only thing I can think of which could be in any way relevant is removing some codecs which I didn't think I needed... then again I didn't think WinDV used any specific codecs anyway. I reinstalled every codec I could think of.

It's not a huge deal, that PC's due a rebuild soon anyway.

Frustrating not to understand it though...

I'm guessing that it was due to one of the codec's you uninstalled. I would make sure that you turn on your system restore function. It can save a lot of grief...

    Those were my conclusions.

    Thanks!
