Hi all. Ok. I'm a total newbie to home video etc, so here is my really basic question. It's to do with the usual PAL to NTSC quandry... I'm sorry if this topic has come up before, I've tried looking through the various threads on the subject, but it all seems to be in another language to me and I can't find a direct answer to my question!
I live in the UK and am trying to send a home vid to a friend in the US. My camcorder records in PAL. Is it true that a PAL tape recorded onto DVD via my PC will play back on my US friends computer using his DVD drive regardless of format? I realise it won't play back on his regular DVD player/TV because of the differences in format/region etc. If not, is there any simple way I can get him to see my home vid?
Please answer in simple language, seriously I am not technical at all and haven't a clue what any of the technical terms mean!
Your help is much appreciated.
Jon

A PC will play both NTSC and PAL regardless of where you are located.
A standalone dvd player in the USA may have problems playing PAL as most players in the USA only support NTSC. -
Thanks Waheed, thats the simple answer I'm looking for! I can now send my vid with total peace of mind. Many thanks for your help.
