    hello everyone.

firstly let me appologize for posting here. i have searched the guides and found lots of guides for XviD to DVD but none of them really covered my question...

i have a file that's XviD that I want to convert to DVD however here's the problem. The XviD file is 25fps so clearly its a PAL file. I live in North America so I need it to be converted to NTSC DVD standard. I have NO idea how to do this. Before I figured out that it was PAL i was going to use TMPGEnc (xpress or plus) however now Im lost at what to do.

i would just watch the file on my computer however I've foudn that DivX and XviD movies run very slowly on my computer and tend to fall out of sync (perhaps this PAL thing has to do with it). I'm pretty sure I have the latest codecs (updated last night) and I really would like to see these films so if someone could help me out that would be magnificent.

also, if someone could post instructions (that they've tested and know work) here as opposed to just linking to a guide only so I have someone to contat if i have questions...if not a good guide is fine too.

    thanks guys.

any other suggestions? i would like to have fairly good quality outputs...
do i need to perhaps convert the PAL file to an NTSC xvid file and then to the NTSC MPEG-2?

    thanks

  4. Best output: convert to 720x480 25 fps MPEG2 with an MPEG encoder like TMPGEnc. Then use DGPulldown to set the pulldown pattern for 25 fps to 29.97 fps. Burn to DVD.

This is the easiest method and works really good i.e., looks fine.

The other option is to slow down the frame rate from 25fps to 23.976fps but then you must also slow down the audio which can be tricky.

So DGPulldown is "preferred" in that you don't have to adjust the audio length at all.
