Weird problem

Hi there
When i try to play a video (any format, avi, mpeg, dvd, wmv), they doesn't play UNLESS i right click over the video and click "Play on my tv".
When i do that it opens in the windows media player and then i can play any video with any other tool.
If I just open the video with other tool it doesn't work.
Plus, sometimes it auto-fill the screen (full screen) and i can't exit/forward/change chapters/etc. To leave the video i have to press alt+f4

Why is that happening?
Might be an influence of codecs?
Videocard configuration? (G-Force XFX 5200 256mb) What i dont think so because it was working pretty well before i format my hd

please help me!

Do you have a capture/TV card installed? TV playing software? Sounds like something changed the file associations of your video files. Try opening WMP, go to view/ options/ formats and click the "select all" option.
