My first question for all "how can I join" questions: Why?
Joining is rarely needed, if you want something beyond just having one file instead of 2.

Then you don't have to join. Just encode each source file to DVD specs mpg and use TMPGEnc DVD Author to author as DVD. TDA will take care of the joining while authoring. (You just select the 2 mpgs as 2 parts of the same title)

No, DVD-Lab expects one mpg/title - But TDA is a little more tolerant. You can DL it and use it fully for 30 days.
Not by far as feature rich as DVD-Lab, but for a simple one movie DVD, more than adequate.
