i use 123 dvd converter from http://www.dvdvideotool.com/ to rip the DVD into avi but the quality isn't that good.
here's what i set. the resolution 720x480 is the same as the DVD disc. frame rate is 29.97. i use the DivX codec 5.2
and here's the result
http://www.vietnamglobalteam.com/~vgt/HAMMERHEAD-05.avi
i've tried DVDx too but the quality is about the same as the result above. is there other softwares to RIP 8-9/10 compare to the DVD disc ?
thanks people

Ripping is generally defined as just getting the DVD files to the hard drive. The encoding is the important part for quality.
If you are looking for higher quality, you generally need to increase the bitrate to increase the quality. Of course higher bitrate usually means a larger file. But there is VBR encoding, two pass encoding, and other codec settings that can get you higher quality with not a lot of gain in file size.
I rip the DVD with DVDDecrypter or DVDFab Decrypter to the hard drive. For simple encodes from the ripped DVD files, I use the freeware program FairUse Wizard. Others use AutoGK for simple DVD to Divx or Xvid conversions. Gordian Knot is one of the better encoder programs, though a little harder to use than AutoGK.
It's all in the encoder settings. If you look to the left. <<< under 'CONVERT' you will see several guides that might help you improve the quality of your videos. -
Also, it might be a good idea to lower the AVI res a bit - that way you get by with less bitrate.
