Dvd Problems help!!!

I bought a DVD hifi set just recently and when I switch it to DVD mode, there is no video or audio , the screen stays black and the cd drive refuses to open. Howeverthe light on the dvd player and the LCD screen is on. Pls help!

How about contacting the place where you bought it, if the manual doesn't help you? Your question is too generic to be answered - if at least you told us make and model of your DVD/HiFi combo (?) maybe someone has the same equipment and can be of some assistance.

i dont know if this is the place to ask, but my dvd player heats up to quickly and then cant play movies properly.. im thinking of buying a new one.

any one have any thoughts on the top dvd players for my tv?? and any special features i should watch out for, like PAL for example.
