  1. Hy
When I go to open a movie from a folder, I always get the "explorer error" and also the "player error" in which I have to close them and I don't understand why.
When I select the movie to play I get the "Windows Explorer Error".I will attach a picture and maybe somebody will help me,please
Is it possible to be from the codecs?Which codecs are the best?give me some instructions for resolving this problem.

    Thanks

Do you have this problem with all of your movies or just one in particular?

If you reinstalled your windows, you need to reinstall programs/codes, etc, before windows will properly recognize them.

Try sending the error report off the M$. I did this for a persistent word problem, and actually go a solution back from as a result. Hard to believe, but it's a true story.

    Microsoft Management Console.

Right-click on My Computer and choose Manage from the menu. Expand the Event Viewer branch, then click on Application and System in turn. Check each of these for error logs generated when you try to open a video, and see if there is anything there that might help in a diagnosis.

I'm pretty confident, it's a codec problem. The explorer prob can be cured by disabling the automatic preview (a popular topic some year ago) in XP.

PS! And try a little more describing topic - all problems around here are video related... DS

Don't remember exactly, but it just involves a little registry flag to be set/unset. Search this site, or Google.

Not with Explorer crashing, as soon as you select an AVI file, no. But it won't make it play any better than before. That can only be fixed by removing a bad codec/installing the right codec. I suggest latest ffdshow as an allround AVI codec.
