  1. I am contemplating moving away from media center and to a Xbox 360. Problem is the 360 doesn't support VOB but does support format such as mpeg1/2 and wmv 7,8,9. Since all of my movies were ripped from dvdshrink and stored as VOB on another file server, will it be better to just extract the VOB and combine into one mpeg2 file for streaming, or use a different codec like wmv 9?

    Thanks!

The easiest solution would be to use something like rejig to demux and produce an mpeg2 video, howver this will take up a lot more space than some other options.

  3. Is there a single tool that can rip a single DVD into one mpeg2 file with AC-3 audio?

  4. I would use ReJig to demux the streams and then TMPGEnc -> MPEG TOOLS to Multiplex them back together as an MPEG video instead of VOB.

However, if you have the VOB's from DVD... burning to dvd would definately be the best choice. If you don't have a dvd burner, i would suggest buying one if you really have a lot of ripped dvds
