I'm not sure but I think that H.264 format is for future blue-ray and HD-DVD, maybe?
It's diferent format that mpeg?
With this question i want to know what is better, make DV to H.264 for make a film ready for new formats or make DV to Mpeg2 and when blue-ray and HD-DVD will have one of this i convert again Mpeg2 to H.264?
Maybe better now convert my films in the newerest format H.264? I don't want to do conversions now to mpeg2 and after to H.264 because quality degrate everytime that makes conversions into diferents formats.
What can I do?
Thanks.

I would stick with what is available now. Planning for the future is a waste of time, especially when there are no set standards yet for the future. And assuming the Blu-Ray format takes over, it supports mpeg2.
Google is your Friend -
h.264 = MPEG4 "version(?)10" = AVC = JVT
Compression is more advanced, thus more efficient and giving more faithful reproduction, than MPEG4 SP ("version 1"), MPEG4 ASP ("version 2"), or MPEG2.
Makes most sense to use on HD material.
DV material you have is already compressed and colorspace-restricted and is SD quality, not HD.
And, at high-end DVD bitrates or better, you would have only marginally better video quality using h.264 on such SD material.

Encode your DV to DVD MPeg2 for now and save the original MiniDV tapes.
DVD MPeg2 will be playable on HD/BR players.
In the future you will be able to encode the MiniDV masters to SD or upscaled HD h.264 using realtime hardware encoders. Don't bother with early slow h.264 software encoders if you want quality. Wait for the real thing.
