Help with crashing

No matter what editor I use I can't edit and convert large video files with crashing. Can anyone help me. I got Windows ME with 256 megs and a 1.1 gig Athlon

That's a fairly non-specific problem.

Which "editors" have you tried? What exactly are you
trying to accomplish? How large is "large"? >1GB?
>2GB?

Define "crash". Does your system hang?
Do you get in illegal memory reference? BSOD?Does your system "crash" the same way no matter
which program you use?

Have you read the guides on this
site (if not, try it! they're quite good)

Ok I tried Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.0 and the one that comes with Windows ME. I don't know the names on the other video editors. Anyway and time I try to edit or convert the file I get a blue screen that says "Windows protection error" or i just freeze.
