    Hi there

Usually I extract the audio from popular avis with virtualdub, full processing/compression ac3/save wav etc... This removes the problem of out of sync audio when encoding with TMPG to a dvd file so I can watch it on my tv.

Lately more and more files I acquire are using this format and I have searched everywhere for a means to extract audio from the files the way I used to with virtualdub, I always get a codec not available message even though I have every codec under the sun.

I have loaded the file in numerous codec programs and these TCM files appear to need the following

    Audio
    Codec Required - MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3)
    Code - 85

    Video
    Codec required - Xvid MPEG-4
    FOURCC - XVID

Now I have zero problems with other xvid files when ripping audio with virtualdub to a wav file, I know I have the required codecs so im assuming audio cant be taken with virtualdub on these files.

The only possible way I see to get around it at the moment is really a bother and a waste of cds
I convert the file to a vcd with nero, the only program I have seen that can convert these files so far, somehow it manages to do it, then burn on a cd and watch, but I prefer to put 5 episodes on a dvd rewritable the way I used too.

Anyway with that all being said, can you suggest any programs that may be able to extract the audio from these files into a wav file to use in TMPG encoder ? The ones I have tried so far havent been succesful.

    Thanks alot

Could also try frameserving with AVISynth. It decodes the audio on the fly.

VDub should be able to decode mp3 fine though.
