    hey all,
    does anyone know of a feeware program that will let you take a mpg file and convert it into .mov?

    ffmpeg. mov is just a container though. Were there any particular codecs that you wanted to use?

    yeah, probably h.264, if I can find a codec for it.

    ffmpeg includes x264 (if enabled at compile). I wouldn't use mov as a container though. Go with mp4, it plays fine with QT*. For AVC mp4's though I would suggest using the x264 commandline app. Check out MeGUI.

    *QT doesn't support HP AVC, he aac, ttext, etc. Although there was just a new version released.
