i want to make a mpg file out of an avi but the estimated time seems way to long when MainConcept MPEG Encoder does it in like an hour.
why TMPGEnc take so long or are there some settings i should change?
and sometimes when i make an mpg out of a avi when i try to load it into nero or tda, the programs freeze or dont load the file? how come?

There's quite possibly a number of settings you might need to change. TMPGEnc is regarded as the slowest of the mainstream encoders, but there's a few tips in the following guides that may help you speed it up:
