This is funny. I remember days after the Nano's announcement there were stories like "Nano's sales are below expectations" and posts like "it's too tiny, won't buy it". Well, Nano is a hit. Same with the Mini, same with the Original iPod. Get over it.

As sure as there is a bored kid in a classroom anywhere, this thing is gonna be a hit too.

I would't buy anything from Apple.

iPods are overpriced gadgets for people with no relationship with technology.

There are tens of media players in the market with double the features and half the price, not to mention the hundrents of mp3 players.

It's like the iMac. Even hairdressers who didn't know what a computer is bought them, when they first came out, because they looked nice on their desks. :P

  3. Nope.

I can imagine we'll soon read of reports of traffic accidents caused by drivers gazing at their iPod vid displays whilst driving. My boss bought a Mini last year & thinks it is just the "cutest thing". She has surrendered her whole music playback experience (home-work-car)to compressed audio thru that thing, & has spend $$ on all the "must have" iPod accessories (like the $20 adapter cable that you could by at Radio Shack for $5 that does the exact same thing, but doesn't have the iPod logo on it)
What was that phrase that PT Barnum said once?

  4. Except for size, wouldn't it be better to just get a laptop?

So you're not going to buy one because it is too thin? You crack me up

As far as the poll is concerned, nope here too, because I don't see much use in portable video.

The actual quote is 2 to 3 hours for video, and I believe it comes via Ars Technica. I think everyone agrees it's not enough. Audio battery life is suppoedly 15-20 hours.

  8. No way. But this gimmick will probably take off.
Apple has always made products that are only compatable with Apple products. If they made it where you could download content from a Tivo to it, I think more people would be interested in it.
Besides, my iPaq can already play music and video. And a ton of other things iPods can't. The only thing iPods have better than iPaq is more storage.

It not just the size although that's a big factor(no pun intended). The feature set on the iPod is very limited, the size and display of the screen is far inferior to most MP3 Players I've seen including my own. The price is also a factor. The sound delivered through the headphone jack is also inferior to most MP3 players.

It just has no value to me even if I were in the market to buy or replace my MP3 player.

I gotta laugh at those who bought the iPod shuffle though. They paid twice what other MP3 players cost and can't use memory sticks to expand their collection. They can't see what's in their collection. They also don't have the option of FM radio, which in my experience is just a plus. A small plus but it's still added value at half the cost of the shuffle.

  11. there's a TON of mp3 players that i would consider buying if mine broke, the ipod or any variation thereof would NOT qualify.....they are horridly overpriced, and like what was pointed out, the sound quality is mediocre at best.....if i want to drop a bunch of money on a portable mp3 player, im gonna go with something that can easily be upgraded, i'm partial to ones that can run with flash memory cards of sorts because they are generally lighter than the "regular" sized ipods with harddrives built into them.....reguarding the nanos....yes, they are cool, but i dunno, there's already smaller mp3 players on the market size wise that is, and they are acting as if its the smallest one in existance.....im not really too partial to apple as is, so i'd have to go with a big NO on this one....not only that, in reguards specifically to the video ones, i never did get why stuff like psp's videos took off...i could NEVER get myself to sit in front of ANY screen that small (or smaller!) and just sit there and stare at a video for like 2 hours.
