a Da*n good dvd/cd burner?

Hey all im in the market for a enw dual layer dvd burner and was wondering what advice you ppl could give me as to what kind is "the best" as to speed and compatability and all that stuff so yeah get back to me ppl THANKS!!!

1) It would be hard to find a burner that is NOT Dual Layer.
1) If there were 10,000 different burners available to buy....you would get 10,000 different answers.

Yeah i can understand that i just thought maybe someone in here would happen to know of a company that makes upper class quality burners thats all.

My next one will probably be a Pioneer. I have a BenQ and an LG now. The older LG is the more reliable one though it is only 4x max.
The BenQ isn't bad but it likes +R much more than -R media.
The LG can also do fancier CD burning as well.....like the ability to burn 90 minute CD-R's...where the BenQ can't.
I don't hate either of them....but there are better ones out there.

NEC3540a is great and cheap. You can find them for $40 and they burn both DVD -/+ DL Media.

And mine would be for a pioneer. Love my DVR-108 and the -110 looks just as tasty.

Everyone has their preferences, likes and/or dislikes..that makes the answer subjective in the least.. "In the Beginning", or back in the "old" days..Plextor was considered the Cadillac of Burners, IMHO..Nowadays there is such a huge variety.. if you stick with the main brands, , ie.. Liteon, LG, Plextor, NEC, you really won't go wrong....I have two LG's, a NEC in my Laptop, and a Plextor External..The Plextor brand for me are the best..

If I had to buy a new burner today, I'd get the Pioneer DVR-110... And that's what I would recommend.

A liteon just replace my NEC 2500. It is cheap and good and can make backups of games. I still consider that Pioneer is the best.

I just ordered an NEC 3540 to replace my
AOpen DUW1608/ARR. It still works fine, but I wanted something that was a bit more up to date as far as formats and speed it could burn, and a burner that was of better quality.
I purchased it thru newegg.com and with luck, the order will be processed and shipped out tomorrow, and I'll receive it by Wednesday.

Good at DVD writing, but looks like DL still needs some work. Not so good at 48x CD writing, but fine a 40x.

Fry's has NEC drives for $59 in stores.
But a Pioneer 110 off newegg.com would still be my choice.

Just thought I'd pass that along, saw it a couple days ago.

Pioneer, followed by Lite-On then Optorite in that order. My first burner was a Sony Dru-500a, Darn good burner, however now they do not make them themselves, I've heard Lite-On make Sony drives now.

Pioneer works great for me.
Lite-On has many utilites available over the web to tweak things
