  1. Okay, here's my problem. I got a bunch of Divx avi's and I transferred them into DVD's via ffmpegX. I used the standard preset settings except I changed the video to 16x9 and the audio to AC3 stereo instead of 5.1. I ended up with VIDEO_TS files, all that played perfectly via the Apple DVD player, so I burned all these VIDEO_TS files to DVD's.

Now, a few weeks later I finally tried to play the DVD on my normal DVD player, but things didn't go very well. The audio either skipped every few seconds, or the audio sounded okay, but was out-of-sync with the video (which looked weird and like kind of like in slow motion). I don't believe this is a media quality issue since I've used this brand for years without problems (Ritek) and the other DVD's I've burned have worked perfectly.

Anyone had this problem before and can offer me a solution to this problem? Thanks.

hmm, without having seen the actual .avi's I can only guess:

Where they originally 24fps DIVX files?
Did you set the ratio to NTSC?
Did you click the "Best" setting on video to get the best
    video Bitrate?

Usually if I process .avis through ffmpegx, I try to
keep an eye on the fps ( more 24fps DIVX are showing up)
and if I change the aspect ratio, to make sure to click
the Best button so it adjusts to get a great video Bitrate,
to avoid the herky-jerkies in playback once burned.

  3. I believe the frame rate on the DIVX avi's were 23.98. Should I just keep the elementary streams and try to join them using the Toast video tab? I never changed the bitrate when I used ffmpegX. I'll give that a try.

Does anyone have any clue why these DVD's will play perfectly in my computer but not my DVD player? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.
