UNICEF Bombs Smurfs to Highlight Plight

In this photo of a poster provided by Unicef on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2005, the cartoon Smurfs and their village are seen being bombed by airplanes. The recent advertising campaign by Unicef, both in print and on television, is intended to teach schoolchildren about the horrors of war. The title in French at left bottom reads "Don't let war deystroy the world of children". (AP Photo/Unicef/IMPS/Peyo)
They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety.

Yeah, I've been looking for a good video clip for about 2 days now.

I know a couple of Belgian Smurf collectors saw it, but none of them recorded it. In fact, one told me that even if he'd recorded it, he wouldn't share. Those ESL euro Smurf collectors are some of the most do-gooder bastards I know. So much for fans helping fans. Wanks.

There was a crap version on some African news site (more of a slide show, with one frame per 3 seconds from the video), but all that did was piss me off. Audio was broken too, but you could hear bombs drop and then Baby was crying.

Unicef was trying to stir emotion again, as the pictures of kids in third world locations were so overdone that people are pretty much immune to them now. Apparently it worked.

This was done in BELGIUM (and THE NETHERLANDS) too, not France.

Tell me about it!!!!! people think i am twisted and i prob. would never think of doing that... well, not at least doing it and releasing it to the public as a world wide known "charity"

It would be nice to find a better quality vod of it than those but....
Damn!!! I can't believe they would make something like that with the childhood lovable Smurfs
You know that would last ONE second on the U.S. airwaves if it ever slipped by and was aired at all

You can tell against whom this particularly distasteful piece of UN propaganda is aimed. The bombs are dropped from airplanes, not delivered by car bombers or suicide bombers.
