I borrowed my daugher's video DVD of her wedding in order to make a copy for myself.
The wedding was in Ireland and the DVD was made there by a video service.

I tried to make a duplicate disk using Veritas "Record Now" and Roxio "Disk Copier" and
could not complete the operation with either application. I then tried copying to my
hard drive with the same result. After over 90% "progress," the operation would stall.

I inspected the DVD for damage and found none. I cleaned the DVD.

I displayed the contents of the DVD and found that there were several files. I copied
them to my hard drive one file at a time and that worked with most of them but the
last one would not copy but hung up like the entire DVD had.

Apparently, this one file (with a VOB extension) was causing all the problems.

The file is NO. 4 of 4 VOB files in the Video_TS folder. When I play the final portion of the video on the computer, there are frequent pauses or interruptions. However, the video plays fine on the DVD player hooked up to the TV.

What can I do to dupe this problem file?

Try ripping it with DVD Decrypter, in ISO mode. Then burn the ISO image with your software.

You could also try isobuster if you find that DVD Decrypter can't salvage the files.
    Read my blog here.

  4. Try iso buster if it didn't work try using dvd shrink edit feature to cut out that part. Must have a weak burn at that location maybe cheap media, it plays but can't copy. You could also try other programs and dvdroms to see if it can be read.

I found a sure fire way to get data off of damaged or scratched cd's and dvd's. Maybe this will help you as well, its worth a try. Its called DVD DATA RESCUE.
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0
