I did post a question about macrovision free apex660 here.
One advice is the Apex failure rate is unusally high among dvd player.
One way to get around macrovision is use DVDripper.
I assume all DVD rip are Macroviision free, but I was told it take 5~6 hours to rip a DVD ? -
A word of advice from a frustrated UK PAL Radeon user who is trying to copy legitimate camcorder videos and VHS copies of the same. Begrudgingly I bought a Sima Colour Corrector, which in the UK costs a hefty £150 and it still didn't cure the problem. Sure, the problem was reduced from flashes every second to every 5 or 10 seconds, but that is all. My understanding is that macrovision detection is much more flaky for PAL capture.
There must be some sort of continuum of signal between normal and macrovision. I just can't understand why ATI can't lower the sensitivity of detection. It seems highly unethical on ATI's part to apply the medieval approach of the ducking stool, whereby they enforce copy protection by preventing all copying.
It is also counter-productive, because I now have a tool which with other devices does allow me to make illegal copies. Will I use it for this purpose? Dunno, but of course the temptation is now there, where it wasn't before.
