Hey all, haven't been around here in a while, but I come back with a problem, in hopes to get a solution.

Just the other day, I got a 50 pack of Memorex DVD-R's, so I tried backing up some of my DVD's. I got DVDShrink (3.12, I think, I got the newest one), and Nero 6.6.0.16. So, I put the DVD in the DVD-Rom, put the Memorex DVD-R in the DVD Burner, I opened up DVDShrink, it loaded the disc, I then went to copy it. It enoded everything just fine, it started burning, it got about 30% through the burning, and then stopped because of some error, and I don't know whether this is a DVDShrink problem, or a Nero problem. I tried the same disc 3 times, and 2 more discs, once copy each. None of them worked, all did the same thing, stopping at the same spot.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? If you don't know what to do, can you recommend some other programs? Maybe a program thats basically the same as DVDShrink, or some other program you can use to burn with DVDShrink besides Nero?

Also, if you need it, heres some info on my computer, its not the computer listed in my profile. I have a HP Pavilion 7955, 256MB ram (if that's important to this), and my DVD Burner is a Lite On SOHW-812SX.

    Thanks

Turn off burning with Nero automatically. Get DVDShrink to output to hard disk folders. Test playback of the files on your hard drive.

Try burning with DVDDecrypter automatically instead of Nero.

Alternatively, burn the folders with Nero manually.

You can also burn with CopyToDVD from within DVDShrink.
    If in doubt, Google it.

To set it up automatically within DVDShrink:

I believe that if you have CopyToDVD installed, it gives you a similar option.

Otherwise use something like IMGTools Classic to create an ISO and then burn in ISO Write mode.
    If in doubt, Google it.

hmm, strange, when i click that, i only recieve the choice of Hard Disk Folder, or when i had Nero selected to burn, it only had that as a choice. ill look again

edit: ok, it turns out my computer, for some reason, wasnt displaying any text in the drop down box, but, i figured it out, and set it to burn with dvd decrypter, and its encoding now, so hopefully it will burn

ok, i tried burning through DVDDecrypter last night. Even worse. It stopped at 20%.

What is wrong with the burner? or could it be the discs? they are Memorex 16x DVD-R's, and my burner is 8x, but that has never been a problem before, the different speeds that is. what should i do?

I don't know if this relates to your problem, but I couldn't get Memorex 16x DVD-r's to burn with my burner until I upgraded the firmware. I assumed that it would burn 16x DVD-r's at 8x speed. It turned out that the burner didn't recognize the disks. I tried a firmware upgrade for my burner from the Memorex site, but that didn't help. Despite my burner supposedly made by Memorex, it turned out to be a Liteon clone. I was able to find a newer better firmware for my burner. The burner now gets listed as a Liteon burner with a top burn speed of 12x. It also now recognizes the Memorex 16x DVD-rs and burns them at 12x, and it works great. You might look to see if there is a new firmware for your burner.

yea, i got it working, it was a pain though. cause the first firmware i tried, didnt work, and it made the whole drive not work, then i tried about 5 more firmwares, then i found a program to patch the firmware to make the drive work again. so its all working and upgraded.
