Okay, i converted AVI to VCD(mpg) using cucusoft's AVi converter, now i burn that on the CD, i play that on my player, and it chuckles(that irritating "chlick sound") and it doesn't take time for it to quickly go out of sync. By about 5 mins to the movie, the sound in the movie, like a dialogue stops and repeats a lot while the visauls are playing and its all going out of sync.
I don't know if its the CD, because i use same type of CD's to burn VCD files created from .OGM files from TMPGENC, they run PERFECTLY, but .avi is messing up, and this was my first try at converting and burning avi to VCD.
1. What is causing this problem and how do i prevent it ?
2. Are there any AVI to OGM converters out there ? Since i have a better experience with CONVERTING .OGM TO vcD FROM tmpgence
3. Even though TMPGENC supports .AVI, its refusing to accept almost every .avi i've tried in my computer, saying its unsupported or something
4. Help please!
thanks a lot, counting on you guys.

params7,
My son likes to download skateboarding and roller blading videos and I run into this every now and then. Ok, its more often than not but you get the idea.
First, even a simple search here at the site would have brought up that TMPGENC is notorious for not liking VBR (variable bit rate) audio. More than likely, this is what you are running into.
Without knowing what your source is, all you mention is that its an .avi, I would take these steps.
- If you don't have it, get VirtualDub. See tools over there <----.
- Open up the avi in ViurtualDub and go to File Information. This will tell you if the audio is VBR or not. Probably VBR MP3.
- Use the 'Save WAV' option to save the audio to a .wav file.
- In TMPGenc, use the avi file as your video source and use your new .wav file as your audio sorce.
This will take care of a predominate number of audio issues when TMPGenc will not work. Now, if the above process doesn't work, you'll need to use some sort of audio processor. I tend to use BeSweet when hit with this issue. Its not often but it does come up.
There's also an audio converter specific for avi file that escapes me at the moment. It’s usually my last resort.
Anyway you want to do it, you'll have to get the audio out and converted. And use that as your source for TMPGenc.Have a good one,
neomaine

guys, thanks for all the suggestions, and yes i found out about the source, its VBR....now i need more advice -
From VirtualDub is save it as a seperate WAV, but aren't WAV like giant in size ? Shouldn't that make the final VCD result a little bloated ?
So can i convert the .wav i seperate from VirtualDUB to .mp3 or any other compressed format, use that as the audio source with the video source in TMPGENC or its okay to use the original .wav if it works well ? -
params7,
The .wav may be bigger but it doesn't matter. TMPGenc will be re-encoding it to VCD specs, 224kb - CBR - 44100hz MPEG1-layer2.
Generally, but very close, you can figure about a meg a second for VCD.Have a good one,
