Mpeg 4 Video File to DVD

I have searched for an answer to this, & the more I do, the more confused I get, so I need assistance.
I have an mpeg 4 video file that I have been trying to convert to dvd & have yet to be successful.
I have a desktop & a notebook that both have dvd burners, tmpgenc, & tmpgenc dvd author on it.
For some reason, even tho I'm positive I have installed all the same codecs to the 2 different puters, sometimes I am able to convert a file on one puter but not the other.
In this case, I could not get either one to load this mpeg 4 file.
I did some searching & came up with some different codecs to use, & installed them on both machines.
Now, I can get the desktop to accept & convert the file, but I only end up with sound & no pic after it is completed in tmpgenc & then fed into the dvd author one.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated as it's getting really frustrating. Thanks, TC

Quicktime 7 has gone gold for Windows so install that and you should be set, and you'll ge able to view H2.64 video's. YEA!

No one said that they were h.264. Could be ASP. Anyway QT doesn't support HP AVC so even if it was h.264 it still might not work.

So Tasty Cat, what exactly do you mean by mpeg 4? mp4 containing ASP? mp4 containing AVC? XviD avi?

Under the type, it just says MPEG 4 video file, so I don't know. It comes up as an invalid avi file in gspot, so I don't know how else to tell what it is.
