  1. I was wondering if anyone out there could help!

I have been trying to join two .VOB files together. Problem is, no matter what program I use, the joined file skips, or hiccups, on playback at the point it was joined together.

This happens no matter what two .VOB files I try to join.

I have tried to use the following programs, all with no success:

    1. VideoReDo
    2. DVD Decrypter
    3. VOBEdit and IFOEdit
    4. Super Video Joiner (and about a dozen other little "joining programs")

The only thing that worked seamlessly on the video is by using the following Windows command line:

    copy /b vob1.vob + vob2.vob outputfile.vob

The only problem with this method is, there's no audio in the joined file!!!

Any input on this subject will be greatly appreciated!!! I've wasted way too many hours on this one!!!

Thanks everyone!!! And happy video-ing !!!!

    Regards,
    Chris

  2. use tmpgenc free encoder and it's Mpeg tools function to "merge" vobs.

or...if you're goal is to author/burn the joined files to a dvd, then use tsunami dvd author to import both vobs and select to "play next file" for end of play instructions...playback will be perfectly smooth.

last option is to use tmpgenc to first convert the vobs to mpg dvd spec program streams, then do one of the two options above.

You can't expect to be able to join two random VOBs, as what's inside them may be totally different. One may have an AC3 stream, the other LPCM, one may have 20 subtitle streams - the other none, one may be mpeg1 video, the other mpeg2, one may be 4:3, the other 16:9 - not to mention different bitrates of the stream.
It works (at least good chances) if all VOBs are part of the same title to begin with - if not - your cances are slim.

I have 4 or 5 vobs that I'd like to join too. It's a show a friend recorded on his standalone but he only copied the vob files for me. No ifo or bup files. I'll try DVD Lab to see if the playback does not skip at the joining points.
