  1. I have these mpg files which for some reason I can't load into a DVD authoring sofware. I have also tried bringing them into TMPGEnc to convert them but I get some message about an invalid file type and they just won't load. I was only able to load one of them but TMPGEnc regognized only the first 5 seconds even though the whole video is closer to 60 minutes.

The files won't play on Windows Media Player. I have installed as many codecs possible but still, nothing. However, I can play them fine with this VLC Media Player so I know that the files are "readable" somehow.

What I would like to do is to convert them to a mpeg format that can be loaded into a DVD authoring tool. I tried loading them into TMPGEnc DVD Author but I get an error message about an invalid GOP header.

So, the question is, how do I find out what type of file these are and also what tool or codec I need in order to convert them into a DVD authoring format?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  2. Thanks jimmalenko.
I tried GSpot but get n/a in return for all info fields.

    AVICodec gives me the following:

    File : 862 Mb (0.00 b), duration 0:00:00, type MPG, 1 audio stream, quality 48 %

    Video : 0.00 b, 1150 Kbps, 25.0 fps, resolution 352*288 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported

    Audio : 0.00 b, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

If I am reading this correctly, the codecs are "Supported" right? If so, why can't I load this into TMPGEnc?
I noticed the 0:00:00 duration in the diagnosis, could this mean there is a problem with the file?

    Thanks.
