Svcd2dvd sometimes goes over the dvd5 size limit, for example today I encoded a 700mb avi xvid file to dvd, the output would have been under dvd5 size, so I told it to fit to dvd 5 to get a better bitrate, it said the output file would be 4.37gb but in fact the resulting file was 4.5gb. But when I shrink a avi xvid movie to fit to dvd5 it works fine?

It depends on the source. However then next version will autoshrink if it does go over by using DVD Shrink. Drop me an email if you would like to give it a try.
